Kia Ora 9 vs Vic Uni 13
Kia Ora Score: 14
Opposition Score: 26
The game was: The game this week was a little bit of a shambles. Holly was back from holiday, and we had Alice filling in at GA for the game - so there were two new (ish) people who we weren't used to playing with recently, and we just struggled to find connections on attack. We made a lot of positional changes to try and figure out what worked, as well as to get everyone on the court. Vic Uni had come down from senior 3, so they came out firing this game, and our control of the game and passing unfortunately did not match their intensity.
Our second quarter was fantastic with Alice acting like a third feeder into Talei in GS, and it really worked allowing her to have full control of the circle. The defensive unit was as impressive as always - its always hard to stop shooters who can shoot as far out as they could! The middies did well to keep up with the changes of positions. Being back down to four middies next week will definitely make it easier to manage and to settle into those combos.
Throughout majority of the game I was finding it hard to chose a player of the match. But then in the fourth quarter Georgia came out firing with about 9 deflections in the final quarter!
On Monday we will be working on driving forward for the ball and then following through for the next option, and feeding the ball into a holding shooter.
And some thanks:
Special thanks to Alice for filling in for us this week! It was awesome to see you back on the court in the Kia Ora uniform :)
