The game was: Not as comfortable as the score would suggest, St Mary's really took it to us for the first half of the game before we pulled away. Managing the line up this week was challenging as we played Tee and Kirstin back to fitness and with Amy being a little "sleep deprived" we knew we would need to keep making changes and the good thing was they all worked!
A highlight was : The team had three team goals and the highlight for me was the 10 intercept mark being achieved including five from our attack end - two in quick succession from Tee in our attacking third! Our mid court trio once again dominated their opposition and provided the link between our hard working defence end of Box and Claire and our shooters. While we settled in to our game Claire at GD and Box at GK showed how much their partnership has grown as they caused turnover after turnover through SMC errors and tips and intercepts. All three shooters had their challenges this week but all three showed that they can adjust to the game and find their way to the hoop! All in all this was probably the game where a number of our players had their strongest games of the season, what a great time to peak!
A special mention to: Rosie was once again our fantastic steadying presence in the attack end and had a blast running unmarked through court and into the circle, often finding herself all alone and receiving great feeds under the goal! Topping it off was her very strong defensive game where she forced a number of wayward passes that were picked up down court.
Following this game we plan to...: As in previous weeks we need to really focus on cutting down our own errors as we prepare for a tough semi final where we will need to treasure possession and convert our opportunities!
Thanks to: Gemma for being our scorer and our ever faithful supporters, including Kirstin's dad who is welcome every week!
