The game was: Wow this is a close grade! We knew we wanted to win this one to assure our place in the top four but we also knew it was going to be tough agaiunst a SMOG team used to playing in higher grades. We did not get off to the fast start we are used to but it was so good to see us continuing to fight till the end and showing that calm heads are the most valuable thing in close games.

A highlight was : Almost everything went well - we shot well, we defended well, we threw away very little possession and SMOG did exactly the same thing, hence the score board showing a one goal difference after 40 minutes. It has been a luxury all year to have 10 committed players who have built really strong combos which allows us to change things up through the game as needed to combat our opposition's strengths. This week we were able to manage some injury concerns in the mid court by Abbie showing her versatility and willingness to change positions stepping from C to WA, Amy showed her strength switching to GD from WD, Rosie came on to replace Anna at GA with very little interruption to our play and Claire and Box put on another dominant performacne in the defence end switching their bibs at half time. Coaching is never easy but this is a team that it is easy to have confidence in - three more games girls!!!

A special mention to: Kate was player of the day this week, surviving very immense pressure from a very tall GK for three quarters of the game adn showing her strength in the hold and her speed of movement around the circle - all done with a smile :) A special mention also goes to Bridget who had a blinder second half in WD in her last game before heading off on holiday, thanks for a great season Bridget and we will have your uniform at the courts for your return on finals day!

Following this game we plan to...: Take a well earned break from training on Monday to rest some niggly injuries and then focus on our last round robin game knowing we have assured 2nd or 3rd on the table and a semi final play off against Vic Uni.
