The game was: This game ended in a thrilling finish with Team 8 clawing back a 3 goal deficit with less than a minute on the clock!
A highlight was : We couldn't afford to have any players injured in this game with no subs available to us but the girls looked forward to what was going to be a challenging game. We started slow and had to battle to stay close and it was probably in the second quarter, we started to find a rhythm. Both teams were evenly matched, trading goal for goal and for a period of time we built a 5 goal lead but we couldn't retain it, coming off in the third a goal behind. It was neck and neck until the last 90 seconds of the game when WN United managed to open up a small lead which ended up with us being down by three goals with under a minute remaining. It was tense right 'til the end as we chipped away at the lead and it came down to a moment of determination and brilliance which proves that you should never give up. With under 10 seconds remaining on the clock, Amy chased down the ball as it rolled out of court from an obstruction call, grabbed it and raced it back into court where she threw a quick pass into Erin who then had to take a giant step towards the goal to land a long range shot with 2 seconds to spare, tying the game and leaving everyone elated!
A special mention to: Amy Smith had a great game managing 4 tips and supplying some great passes into our shooters. She put in a big effort and showed that you should never say never. Erin was strong again, shooting 89% of all her attempts at goal. Jen for having a good game at WD. Amaria, Beth and Emma for being energetic as ever and Michelle for some great passing assists into Erin.
Player of the day…..Amy Smith. Well done Amy!
Thanks to: Special mention to Holly who's grandad passed away late last week. Our thoughts are with you Holly.
Thanks to: Coach Erin for running the team and Captain Abby for assisting and helping us take score with her injury. Special thoughts go out to Holly from all the girls for the passing of her Grandad late last week.
