A hard fought draw....and what a last quarter fight back it was!

Date Played: 5/7/2016

Kia Ora Team: Kia Ora 9

Opposition Team Name: Vic Uni 19

Kia Ora Score: 22

Opposition Score: 22

The game was: Tough! With A few girls out this week for one reason or another and Coach Nicole on hen party duty there were a few new combos on show on court. The first two quarters were all ours with great defensive work gaining us ball right through court and being finished off with some accurate shooting. Unfortunately at the break Vic found their mojo and piled on the pressure, and their shooters started running wild. But all credit to the girls for resetting at the last break, focusing on doing their own work on court and fighting back for the win.

A highlight was : The endless patience on attack when things broke down in the mid court - something every team can learn from no matter what their grade. The willingness to pass the ball round until the attacking option opened up and treasuring possession was the main reason for withstanding the Vic pressure and coming away with the draw.

A special mention to: Katie was player of the day for often being the saviour when things broke down and for doing a power of work through court, on the feed and shooting the crucial goals in the last quarter.

Following this game we plan to...: Work on your spacing and positional play and you will be on fire the rest of the season

Thanks to: Thanks to the whole team for the effort and commitment and putting up with me barking instructions from the sideline! A special thank you to KO12 Siobhan for sidelining and being such a vocal supporter through those tense last few minutes.
