We earned that one....one bruise at a time

Date Played: 5/14/2016

Kia Ora Team: Kia Ora 2

Opposition Team Name: East 5

Kia Ora Score: 31

Opposition Score: 22

The game was: Exhausting! With only the bare 7 to put on the court this week the girls knew they had to guts it out for the full forty minutes and every one of them run themselves to a standstill!

A highlight was : The absolute highlight was the end of the third quarter, a turnover with about 14 seconds to go and the girls knew they had time and calmly worked it through court until Captain Fantastic Amy let rip with a bullet to Rosie sneaking along the baseline to calmly convert and top off a dominant quarter.

But the whole game was great - Rosie and Kate continued to build their combo with slick passes, rebounding and high percentage shooting; Tamara and Abbie combined as a beautifully mobile attacking mid court with Tamara dominating at the centre pass and both of them finding feeding position on the circle edge; all seven players piled on the defence which helped Bridge, Amy and Claire to completely overpower their opposition.

All in all this game showed us that we can handle physicality and continue to play our controlled, structured game.

A special mention to: Claire was MVP this week, continuing with her hard work and intensity from training to completely dominate her very aggressive partner! She is really settling into the established defensive line up and is getting better each week.

Following this game we plan to...: Take the opportunity to test ourselves against Team 3 at training and as a team to adjust to the challenges they put to us....oh and we will discuss how to combat zone defence which luckily East didn't apply until the last quarter!

Thanks to: Hannah and Jeanne for once again being our sidelines in case we needed you!
