Some promising signs for a great season

Date Played: 4/16/2016

Kia Ora Team: Team 2

Opposition Team Name: Vic Uni 4

Kia Ora Score: 28

Opposition Score: 32

The game was: A game of four quarters (two of which we will remember, and two we will learn from)

A highlight was : This game started with a bang as we leapt out to a 10-3 quarter time score on the back of some pretty strong defence from all seven players and some well timed attack. Unfortunately Vic were on to it and made some positional changes which switched up the game and stopped us in our tracks. The next two quarters saw the momentum change and Vic raced out to a big lead at the end of the third quarter before we once again took control. I think if the game had gone for another couple of quarters we would have seen a different overall result but that was just not to be!

Some highlights....All 10 players took the court and we ran endless different combinations, there was some beautiful feeding from all three feeders (including some beautiful jump pass feeds from Tamara!), we survived the new rules with little or no problem (and coach was pleased the caution was not to one of our team) and our shooting and defence circles had moments of brilliance that we will look forward to seeing repeated for the next 18 weeks!

A special mention to: Player of the Day this week went to Amy who had a blinder of a game - tips and intercepts galore, on-court direction and leadership, and two rather impressive long, long range feeds (including one into Rosie who was hiding behind Kate and barely visible!!).

Following this game we plan to...: Work on our second phase off the centre pass and our defensive structures through court.

Thanks to: Gayle for being our statistician and the mums (and mum's friends) on the sideline support crew.
